Walking boy goes to the doctor... again!

I'm on the computer printing coupons, helping Lexi with her math homework (I'm pretty sure this is stuff I did in high school!!) and we are heading out for soccer pictures and a game in 1/2 an hour.... but I realize I haven't updated my blog in a week (again!!) so I wanted to just say really quick that Chase has decided he's seriously getting into this walking thing today!! For the last couple of weeks every time I see him walking around I call him walking boy. I cheer and say "Yay, Walking Boy!!" and he grins big as can be!! Even Frankie when he sees him walking yells "Hey Kris!" come see! It takes us all by surprise!

Well today he took over 50 steps without falling!!!! He was walking in circles around his lap desk in the living room and back and forth to the couch. All the time I'm standing there smiling and cheering and bending over to pick my jaw up off of the floor! He's still a little wobbly, those little ankles are not quite strong enough, and he still locks his knees because he's figured out that he gets more balance that way, but he's walking more often and falling much less often that it is amazingly noticeable! Maybe by the time Grandma and Grandpa E. come for the holidays he will be running!!!! Wouldn't that be the best Christmas gift ever!

I took him to MUSC today for an appointment with his geneticist. Long story short, he's no longer really even concerned about him!!! He was "really concerned" 9 months ago and "moderately concerned" 6 months ago so that is huge progress!

He thinks if we were to do any additional genetic testing there would be a less than 2% chance that he would find anything. He says though, that genetic testing is improving by leaps and bounds each year, so he wants to see him in another 12 months to see if any additional testing has come out that might be appropriate in Chase's case.

Two weeks ago Chase had a follow up appointment with his Developmental Specialist and was retested on everything (speech, fine motor, gross motor, socialization, etc.) and was on track for an 18 month old for everything except the gross motor, and that was only due to his lagging behind in walking. But his speech and fine motor were well on target. Maybe by the end of this year, he'll be all caught up and next year we'll have nothing more to worry about!!!! I'll pray for that, anyway.

Yay! That's so exciting Kristen. Especially the part about the doctor not being concerned at all. That's great. 50 steps without falling is A LOT! Go Chase!

That is SO wonderful! What a success he is. And all this time, he wasn't even worried. :)
